Check the plan against your project
QuiltMargins provides free calculation tools for planning quilt materials and cut sizes. Results depend on the measurements and settings you enter. They don't guarantee that a plan will suit every fabric, pattern, quilting setup or sewing technique.
Follow the method you intend to sew
Check usable fabric width, seam allowance, print direction and overhang before cutting or buying material. Follow your pattern and the requirements of your quilting setup. When a result depends on the sewn size, make and measure a sample before cutting a full batch.
Use dimensions, not the drawing, to measure
Cutting diagrams are schematic and may show only a sample of the total pieces. They aren't full-size patterns. Use the labeled cut dimensions and counts, and read the notes that accompany the result.
Keep a backup of plans you need
Plans saved in a browser can be lost when its data is cleared or the device changes. Export an editable project file if you want to keep a separate copy. See how to save and export a plan for the available options, and how the calculations work for the assumptions behind them.
